Open Government

On August 30th I used the Open Government portal to request the responses to three previous Access requests from Veterans Affairs Canada. I asked that the response be provided in electronic format.

Those requests were each acknowledged by the robo-system that sends out automatic responses. Given that the documents were requested in electronic format and had been previously released one would have expected that the documents would be provided automatically. On September 30th I send a follow-up e-mail that was not acknowledged. As of today (October 18th) nothing has been received.

Next Monday I will request the same documents through official Access channels at Veterans Affairs Canada and see whether the response there is any better.

However, I can safely say that advertised efficiencies of the Open Government Portal are not a reality.
